Our Vision

My Why

My passion for lifestyle medicine began long before I became a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

  • For my 5th grade science project, I placed my parents on a food pyramid inspired diet (this was pre-MyPlate) to see if nutrition alone could influence weight loss.

  • When I started developing kidney stones as a preteen, I saw just how important small changes like increasing water and decreasing processed foods were to my own health.

  • Years later, I wrote my undergraduate thesis on the eight pillars of wellness and developed programming to improve community health.

  • Years after that, I’ve seen tremendous improvements in my gut health by focusing on whole foods, eating 30 different plants a week, and working on stress reduction.

These experiences sparked a lasting interest in public health and wellness, which I now carry into my clinical practice as a physical therapist.

Physical therapists are uniquely positioned to influence lasting lifestyle changes. We see patients more consistently than other healthcare providers, which gives us more insight into their lifestyle habits and opportunities for change.

While physical activity is essential, I’ve seen firsthand how it is only one piece of the puzzle. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy with a Lifestyle Medicine Certification, I have the opportunity to analyze movement, encourage exercise, and educate on the other lifestyle medicine pillars (nutrition, sleep, stress relief, social connection, and reduction of risky substances) every day! I’m living the dream!
